**VACATION: I will be visiting my family in the US between September 22nd and October 17th. During that time I won't be able to offer lessons, but will be back on Verbling offering classes starting on Friday, October 19th.**
My name is Danielle and I am originally from Long Island, NY. I have had a passion for languages and traveling since I was young and love what learning about other cultures and other ways of communication can do for both personal and professional growth.
I have lived abroad in Spain, where I expanded my knowledge of the Spanish language and had the opportunity to experience and connect with the culture. I then spent time traveling through Europe and spent months in Berlin, where I started my German language journey. After that, I returned to NY to work as an event planner and office manager. I realised that I wanted to do more to help people improve their communication and decided to become an ESL teacher.
After getting certified with SIT TESOL in NYC, I immediately started working at a language school in NYC, where I was exposed to students of many different backgrounds and many different language levels. Every student was on their own personal language learning journey and I was grateful to be a part in helping them along the way.
In 2012, my husband and I decided to move to Berlin, where he is originally from. Since that point, I have been teaching a combination of business English and general English to students of all different levels with a wide variety of professions.
My approach to language learning is one of feeling comfortable with yourself and confident in the abilities that you have. It's important that my students let go of the fear of "making mistakes" and try to focus on simply connecting to the language. From there, we can work on the specific needs and improve the things that need to be strengthened.
I want my students to enjoy the English language and enjoy the process of the language exchange. It is not always an easy task to help people feel comfortable, but I do my best to establish a relaxed learning environment to maximise the learning potential.
