My name is Tarien de Villiers. I’m originally from South Africa, but currently living in France. I’m fully bilingual, with English and Afrikaans being my two native languages. I also speak French at C1 level and German at A1 level.
I was fortunate enough to grow up in a “rainbow nation” where an emphasis was placed on the power language holds in bringing people together. It set the foundation for my future endeavours in language teaching around the world.
Where education is concerned; I hold a Bachelors degree in Language and Culture, an Honours degree in French and this year I will receive my Masters degree in French literature. In 2013 I came to Strasbourg, France, to do a CELTA (Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults).
I have 6 years of experience in the field of English language teaching. I’ve taught at two different international language schools in Cape Town, South Africa. Moreover, I’ve taught at 4 different middle schools in the Rhône-Alpes area of France. I’m currently a specialised English teacher at the University of Lorraine in Nancy, France, where I teach Scientific English to first-, second- and third year students.
My teaching style highly depends on the needs of the students as well as their personal and/or professional goals. I’m passionate about languages and can’t wait to share that with you all.
