Hello future student! I am currently doing my Honors in Educational Support at Stellenbosch University. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a 120 hour in-class TESOL qualification. My main teaching goal is to help and encourage you with your spoken English, and with any other language skills you may like to improve. I do this by strengthening your vocabulary and, developing conversational skills through the introduction of topic-based discussions. I have seen that many students have anxieties around learning a new language. I try and help them break down these barriers, through encouragement and realistic goal-setting, so as to reach their full potential. My lessons are customized to my students’ individual language needs and I adapt them to each student's desired outcomes, whether these be in spoken or written English, formal or conversational speech. My lessons are fun, engaging and interactive and I try to energize students in order to make the learning process a positive learning experience, rather than a chore.
My students have shared that I conduct my English lessons with warmth, patience and passion. I am also fluent in Afrikaans, and throughout my teaching career I have witnessed the joy and success my students have felt when they succeed in learning a second language.
Based in the southern tip of Africa, the city of Cape Town is alive with vibrant and friendly people. I have been teaching English and other school subjects like Geography, History and Mathematics for the past 6 years at various schools in and around Cape Town.
I am also a part-time dance teacher, specialising in ballet, hip-hop, freestyle, jazz, African and contemporary. I believe having a balanced lifestyle is paramount to happiness, especially in the fast paced world we live in. Hobbies and interests form a key part in my life and help keep me sane! My biggest passion is ballet, but I also enjoy yoga and pilates. I played team tennis for my university a few years ago and still play recreationally. My favorite tennis player is Roger Federer because he moves gracefully like a ballet dancer on the court, especially at Wimbledon. On weekends you can find me walking on the beach or hiking up our beautiful Table Mountain.
I would love to hear about your interests, culture and goals!
I hope to meet you and help you in improving your English!
