- Hey Everybody! My name is Michael. I am 35 year old Canadian and since last year, a resident of Spain and aspiring Spaniard!
Before getting my teaching qualification, I was an Electrician for almost 15 years. I've worked and travelled all over the world, from metropolis city centres to the remote Arctic circle. Before that I worked in hotels and restaurants where I learned the bread and butter of customer service, how to work under pressure and how a good team and and how a team communicates can make all the difference.
I have two kids aged 6 and 1, I like to think they keep me young at heart. I love being silly, what can I say!
My approach to teaching from what I've learned doing it full time for over a year now, is to keep it fun. Keep the student engaged and make the lesson interesting. I am often told that students appreciate my " neutral " accent, I have always thought it boring but for learners ... they think its helpful. I like to make the lesson easy to understand through every day examples. I use my native"ness" to help explain idioms and phrasal verbs and to help strengthen your confidence when speaking to real people in the real world!
