Integrity is a noun. We can say a person or thing has integrity. When we say this about a person, it's about his or her moral character and intentions, whether the person is driven by truth or lies.
People who lack integrity include superficial people, who judge by appearances emphasizing looks over talent, intellect or truth.
People can be said to have moral integrity, when they follow a code of ethics. But more importantly they will never betray their beliefs for any kind of material gains.
People with intellectual integrity can be said to have the same strength in the intellectual area, when their ideas cannot be destroyed by things they have said previously. In other words they value truth over a need to be right or to gain power and will concede if they are wrong and accept new facts.
Integrity is probably the most important and undervalued word in the English language and if you can assimilate it
Here is the dictionary definition:
1 : firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility
2 : an unimpaired condition : soundness
3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness
When the dictionary mentions adherence to a code it means that a person is not going to abandon that code. In a way it signifies a form of loyalty to that code. A person without integrity seeks to make more money by sacrificing their self respect by any means, in fact they soon lose a sense of values of what is right or wrong, and they are likely to also lose a sense of respect for themselves or others. People who lack integrity can't be relied on, they never do what they say, or their actions are motivated by simple greed.
Definition 2 is about the condition of something, so we can say the bridge has integrity in terms of its construction or materials, which means it is strong and not likely to collapse.
Definition 3 talks about completeness. If your art work lacks integrity you may have neglected something, a missing part of a face or you build a car and the car has no wheels then it's incomplete and therefore lacks integrity.
