5 Email phrases to avoid

It can be frustrating when we don’t receive emails as soon as we need. Most people send a follow up email letting their colleague know they are (im)patiently waiting. However, it can often come across as annoying or at worst, passive aggressive. According to a survey in 2018, Adobe identified the top 5 most annoying email phrases. You might think twice about using the following!
1. “Not sure if you saw my last email…” 2. “Per my last email/ our conversation” 3. “Any update on this?” 4. “Sorry for the double email” 5. “As previously stated/ mentioned”
Guilty!? Instead, try simply stating your point again without any passive aggressive language. You can repeat your question without mentioning that you have already sent or shared the information. Try not to leave hints of your frustration that they might not have looked or responded to your email. Emphasising that you are reminding people of something will only create a sour atmosphere. It certainly won’t speed up a response and may sound passive aggressive. Adding extra information can soften your repeated request and give the recipient a reason to reply.

Well done on taking the first step! Are you serious about improving your English language skills?! Excellent :) Whether you'd like to improve your conversational English, prepare for exams or expand your knowledge of business based language, I can help you. I have a wealth of experience teaching general English as well as exam preparation, and will prepare well-structured lessons to suit your individual goals. So if you are ready to put in the effort and see results, continue reading! My lessons: Once we establish what your needs and goals are, we will set out personalised learning plan with steps for your continued improvement. My learning style is flexible and alternating to keep the learner interested, with a combination of conversation/dialogue, grammar, functional language and general English. I aim for enjoyable and communicative lessons with a focus on building confidence and fluency. If you are interested in more formal business style lessons, we can arrange that too. I will often provide optional homework to assist students in further acquiring the language. As a learner of other languages myself, I put myself in the learner's shoes. I will guide you through any difficulties and focus on increasing your confidence in speaking. About me: I have been teaching English for almost seven years now following my teaching certification, as well as recently completely a Postgraduate certificate in Education. I initially studied a BSc in Nutrition and still have a keen interest in the field, as someone who is very motivated to lead a healthy lifestyle! I enjoy cookery courses and spend much of my spare time in the garden (where I also care for my resident garden hedgehog!) **Above all, my lessons are very well-prepared and enjoyable so that you can really get the most out of your time. In order for your lessons to be effective and for you to be successful in achieving your goals, it is important that you are committed to these goals. That means punctual attendance, self study and tons of self-motivation!! ** Please read carefully: Any unattended lessons/ last minute cancellations will be charged for. Thank you for your understanding.
